What kind of earrings to wear when ear piercing has healed?

I am going to put it a new pair of earrings but what kind should I use? (Ex: 14 k gold, sterling silver, etc.) My earlobe piercings have healed already. I got some from Target but I’m not sure if they are good quality ones. I got a pair that I really like and they are sterling silver. Would that be ok to wear or would it make my ears infected?
