Most people get involved in the business by having some skill, either because they had it as a hobby or they had someone who could teach them things. Also there are a lot of books that you can read at the library.
People think that doing fashion design is easy on the computer, but just about every successful designer knows how to draw. And they know how to cut and sew. Learn these things first.
Jewelry designers also must know how to draw, and they must learn about materials and metals. My best friend is a jeweler, he got started by making rings out of old silverware when he was a little kid. Now he designs gold jewelry for wealthy people like Saudi princes.
So, learn some of the basic crafts first, and it will help you greatly as you pursue your dream. Best of luck to you!
